December 31, 2005

Looking back at this year, didn't accomplish all I set out to do.  I guess that is why it is good that we have another year to catch up.

I don't think I am feeling sorry to see 2005 go.

December 27, 2005

Well. Christmas has come and gone.  And I for one am grateful.

I never did like Christmas.

Got a lot of cards this year.  Stayed home this year and slept through most of Christmas.  Christmas Eve my friends Tim and Pam had a family get together and invited me to stay for that.  That was kewl.  I spent most of Christmas recovering from that.

December 09, 2005

For those who are looking for Soon Will Come the Light at a better price, you can get it on sale. At the time of this writing, you can get it for $9.99 if you click here

I have to wonder why it is on sale?  Maybe they don't plan on carrying the book anymore? ACK!

December 08, 2005

Today I received a little surprise in the mail.  :)  One Neil Hanier sent me an item from the wish list to thank me for the info on the site.

So THANK YOU, MR. HANIER for your thoughtfulness.  :)

December 03, 2005

Today I got another two computers people were looking to get rid of and finally got one built for the downstairs.

Sometimes I wonder if all this technology is worth it.  So much can go wrong.  You can even lose a finger.  Or almost lose a finger.  :(

December 02, 2005

Today I actually have something worth putting in the journal.  (I do occasionally have these moments you know...)

So there I was, now with the third computer, minding my own business, taking a floppy drive out of one of the computers, and then out of nowhere, blood goes flying everywhere across the room!

Took me a minute to realize it was mine!  ACK!

So I run to the sink to wash it off and every time I take my finger out, blood goes everywhere!  Oh my what a mess it was.

So I think to myself, "Self," I think, "hopefully this is one of those things that looks worse than it is but best to be sure...."

So I go to the ER down the street (everywhere in Bedford is down the street) and they end up giving me three stitches in my finger.

I get them out in 10 days.

December 01, 2005

Today I have acquired two free computers.  Both are not exactly in the best condition.  :(  I need one more that I hope to get soon, then I can start building.  What I want to do is take all three apart, take the best parts of all of them, make them into one good computer, set that up downstairs, and then wirelessly interface it with the main computer up in the office.

This will be a difficult (and long term) project, but I like the intellectual challenge of the idea.

Also it is getting near the end of the year.  I need to scroll down to see how I have done with my New Year's Resolutions.  :)

November 29, 2005

Today I actually GOT THE ROUTER!  WiFi reigns supreme in the Thomas household.

Had some problems getting the network secure, but I think I have it off to a good start.  There is more to do but I have now will keep most people out, I think.

Was watching a piece on the news about how everyone has WiFi that is not secure and anyone can go in there and surf the net OR search your own computer.  I won't let that happen.

Anyhoo, it looks like the great Verizon saga may be finally coming to a close.  And none too soon!

November 28, 2005

Today I heard from Brenda at Verizon YET AGAIN.  She asked me how the router was going, but of course I still have no router.  *YAWN*  When will Verizon's game ever end?

Later in the day, when I was at the Y, the UPS guy came to deliver something from Verizon.

(ACK!  Could it be?  Could it even POSSIBLY be?  I dare not even dare to hope!  To THINK!)

Left a note saying they would deliver tomorrow after 5:00pm.  I will be home waiting.

November 24, 2005

Today I celebrated Thanksgiving, along with the rest of you.   When I walked outside, I saw it was a good 57 degrees.  So I took the scooter for a ride to see Lance.  Then I traded the scooter for the car and went to see my friend, Rebecca, for Thanksgiving.

All in all, it was a good day.

November 21, 2005

Today I heard from Brenda at Verizon yet again.  She asked me how the router was working.  I had to tell her there is still no router.  It amazes me how totally inept and crappy the Verizon customer service is.  Let's face it, they just don't care.  They SAY they do, yes, but here we have proof that they absolutely do not.  All they want is the money and customer be damned for all they care.

I should have had the router on the 6th of this month.  Now it is the 21st and still no router.  I also never received an e-mail with a tracking number.  Brenda insists it was mailed, but I have my doubts.  She says she is looking into it.  I believe HER, the only decent person working there.

I heard about an article in the current issue of Forbes Magazine about how blogs are ruining companies.  People are writing bad things about companies in blogs.  Other people read them and want nothing more to do with companies they read about.  Companies are fighting back with lawsuits.

Verizon can't be happy with what I been saying about them the past few weeks.  Well, I don't care.  Check your records, Verizon, you will see everything I have said is the truth.  You brought this on yourself.  Deal with it.

If, by chance, you do want to "deal with it," if you want to give me credit or make this up to me, if you are willing to admit that you have screwed this (very loyal) customer FIVE TIMES in the past month, I will be ever so happy to add that to this blog and to sing your praises.

But you gotta pony up first.

November 19, 2005

Today I did the talk at the church.  We had all of twelve people show up.  :(  I am a bit upset about that but I can live with it, because they were all from Lion of Judah and at least my own church will know what to do, so it won't reflect bad on me.  :)

November 18, 2005

Tomorrow I am doing a talk on autism at my church.  This is because there seems to be more kids coming into the church with autism and the people in the back room with them are bit clueless. Unlike Verizon being clueless (still no router), it is perfectly understandable what is happening at the church.

So I am doing an introductory autism course.  The pastor has invited 70 (yes, seventy) other churches to attend.  I have not heard if any are coming.  I hope they do.  Churches need to hear this stuff.

November 15, 2005

Today I heard from Brenda again at Verizon.  She confirmed for me that I was right, that I was indeed to have a wireless router.

How many ways can Verizon screw up a simple DSL order?  How many ways can Verizon tell their customers that they just don't give a damn?

Brenda said she would work on getting me a free month of service.  After all of this, I should be getting a free YEAR of service.

But in all honesty, I don't even expect Verizon to give me the month.  They might have to admit that they made a mistake.  Ouch.

November 14, 2005

Today I finally have my broadband.  Am I happy?  I suppose I should be.

BUT NO I AM NOT!

First, those IDIOTS at Verizon didn't put a number on the package, so I have to travel over half an hour (EACH WAY!) to pick the package up.  (I will NOT sit here all day waiting for UPS again!)

Second, WHERE IS MY WIRELESS ROUTER?  Those IDIOTS at Verizon forgot to put it in!  ARGH!

Still, we are part way there.  The access IS running.  Had a heckuva time getting AOL to recognize it, I had to add the modem manually.  Auto detect didn't see it.

Bummer.

November 11, 2005

Today it looks like there might actually be a light on the Verizon!  ACK!

I got notice that my DSL is TURNED ON!  How can this be?  It wasn't supposed to happen until December 5th!  I guess Brenda was telling me the truth the whole time!

The problem is that not only were they quick, they were so quick that the activation started ahead of the delivery of the modem!  According to the tracking number, I will receive that on Monday.

Am I *still* skeptical?  You better believe it!  I will not believe I have this DSL problem worked out until I plug that modem in and see it with my own eyes.

And if, by chance, I do see it with my own eyes, I will rejoice and send Verizon a thank yew letter.  Seems they deserve it after all the nasty mails I sent.  But at least they got me somewhere.

November 09, 2005

Today I heard from Brenda at Verizon.  She called me to tell me she is "working on it."  I want to believe her, I really, REALLY do, but what with what Verizon has done to me lately, it is just sounding too good to be true.

I hope I am wrong.

November 08, 2005

Today I tried and tried and tried to get Verizon to see reason.  No such luck.  Only empty, hollow apologies.

I had pretty much decided to be looking elsewhere for my phone service when I had one last idea.   Instead of calling the regular number and talking to peons who can't help me, why not place a call to the corporate headquarters and talk to someone who CAN?

Well I did exactly that and I talked to a lady named Brenda who says she can help me.  "If anyone can help you, I can," she says.

I am not so sure I believe her.  But she sounds sincere.  She bought Verizon another chance, anyway...

November 07, 2005

Today I have discovered something very disconcerting about this site.  Apparently this site is having a LOT (and I mean a LOT) of visitors.

Now of course that is good, and that is what we all want, except that they are all going to the power records and totally ignoring the rest of the site.

I am working on a FIX for that now.

You Power Records people who are reading this: Download NOW.  They won't be up much longer.

November 01, 2005

Today I have been screwed by Verizon.  :(

I went to order DSL the other day, and I found I already had it!  (That explains the static on my line...)  The order came from a guy out in Stafford, VA, at a phone number that is *completely* different from mine, but Verizon got it all mixed up.  They sent HIM the modem and the bill, and gave ME the access.

So now, in order to get the access I want (which I can't do without a Verizon modem, because they use a proprietary protocol, probably to cover their butts when they make stupid mistakes like this), I have to wait 3 to 5 days so they can take the DSL off my line, then I have to wait another 7 days so they can put it back on!  :(

Meanwhile I still have static on my line.

Personally I feel they should offer credit to both myself and the other guy.  But they have not done so.  They are probably too busy in the office giving each other high fives over how they managed to screw two people over.

Needless to say, I am *not* a happy Verizon customer just now.

October 26, 2005

Today I did a talk in Blacksburg, VA.  Here I was, struggling over what to talk about, then when I get there, I find it is all Q&A!  ARGH!  :)    It was me and three other panelists for two hours, and somehow it didn't seem long enough.  Not sure I understand that.

I had a good time.  I would present with them again if they asked me.

October 24, 2005

Recently a used book company in California posted a used book on amazon.com for $94.12.  Not so unusual for a rare, out of print book, except that this time the book was mine.  :(  (They are also selling it for the same price on their own site, see here.)

Because I had already been paid royalties on it, there was nothing I could do to get it off of the site or to stop him selling.  So what I decided to do was to sell one of my own, unused copies for half of his price right next to the one he had for sale.  That way, not only would he not profit from my work, but I would profit from his driving the price up.

So, for any of you who are looking for that ever so rare copy of Light on the Horizon, it is now available, thanks to incredible greediness of Ventura Pacific (who, by the way, is also selling a worn copy of Soon Will Come the Light for $59.95, see here), for the low, low price of $47.06.  All profits go directly to the author of this work and this purchase will include a personalized autograph if you so desire.  This book will remain for sale until it is sold or until the other seller removes his title or lowers his price, whichever comes first.

Book can be purchased (for either $94.12 or $47.06) at this link:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/offer-listing/1885477260/qid=1130174243/sr=1-10/ref=sr_pb_a//103-5769036-3895817?condition=all

In other, similar news, someone, maybe Pro-Ed, maybe someone else, is currently offering an article I wrote a few years ago on amazon.com for $5.95.  I was not told that the article was to be placed on amazon and I am not receiving any royalties from these sales.

Therefore the article can be read for free right here.

By the way, happy birthday to my brother, Charlie.  :)

October 22, 2005

Lately (for the past couple of days) I have been updating the site and I have most of the links active.  The one's that aren't will be added back in when they are.  I fixed the Oprah video, for those who want to see it (it will play correctly) and I added some photos and some mp3's of some of my presentations.  I also added some things I have written over the years other than autism articles, and a small biography that I will add to as time goes by.

I have noticed, too, that these pages do not always display correctly in Netscape.  I am not quite sure how to fix that, I have tried...   :(  Sorry, all you MAC users...

Take a look around.  There is a lot more to see here.

October 17, 2005

Today I did an update to the site.  I added a manuscript page, like on my old site, so you could get a copy of the original manuscript(s) of my work, and, because people asked for it, I also added a special power records page.

More updates are on the way.

October 12, 2005

Today I actually have something newsworthy to report, amidst all the lame entries below.

I was invited to speak on a panel.  I don't know where yet, or when (because whoever is putting it together doesn't know, either.)  All I know it will be October 26th.

Normally I don't do panels anymore.  Panels are usually part of a bigger conference and if someone wants me on a panel, I usually tell them I will do the panel if I can also have my own talk and they usually agree to that.

Doesn't seem to be the case here.  This is an evening, two hour panel presentation.  And from what I can tell, the panel is all there is.  So I am okay with it in this case.

Also I will be doing a talk at my church, Lion of Judah Ministries, on November the 19th.  I look forward to this one.  I have been wanting to speak there for a long time.  :)

October 10, 2005

Today I bought a Beamer Matrix.  This is one seriously NICE scooter!  "It gets you around campus faster than a fake ID."

This was to replace the Ninja GS-12 I bought a couple of years ago that has been nothing but trouble from the beginning.

Unlike the Neta 980, I did find a place locally that sells them.

But they only had the black ones in stock.  I asked if they would order me a red one and they said they would offer me $200.00 off if I took the black.  How could I say NO to that?

Total cost with title and processing fees and all of that was $1,826.40.

I hope this is a better deal than the computer.

October 03, 2005

Today I got the Neta 980 and it is defective.  :(  The PS2 ports for the mouse and keyboard are not functioning.

This is why I don't like shopping by mail order.  It is a pain in the ass to send everything back and plus I have to pay another $20.00 or so postage to do it.

October 01, 2005

Today I am awaiting my new toy.  I ordered a Neta 980 which should arrive Monday.  This is because I recently picked up a MobilePro 780 and I am so impressed with it that it is all I use to write with now.  I have a wireless network card that I can use to surf hi speed at the library.  Nice.  I am in the process of writing a review of the 780 and I will get it up here on the site when I can.

Also, a little bonus for all of you PC users.  Here is a sheep for you.  You can download this file and when you run it, a cute little sheep will keep you company while you work at your PC.  Some people find it annoying, others think it is cute.  I'd be interested in what you think.  You can let me know.  :)

September 23, 2005

Today I am finishing a DVD project.  I am trying to make a DVD of an old video movie.  The movie is called, "Resurrection" and it stars Ellen Burstyn and Sam Shepard.  This film is from 1980.

Very few people have seen this movie, which is sad, because it may be Ellen's best work.  It is a film about a woman who dies in an auto accident and comes back with the power to heal.  A lot of good spiritual exploration in this film.

The problem I had with this video is that it is copy protected.  Finding a way around the copy protection wasn't easy, even being told how to do it by the guy what designed the hardware.

Don't get me wrong, I respect copyrights.  This movie, however, is out of print,  and for most, forgotten altogether.   I want to preserve this good movie because they aren't making good movies anymore.  They are all sex and violence these days.  No plot.

In other news, I have been busy writing and tidying.  The main thing I have to clean now is this office area where I put all the stuff I otherwise don't know what to do with.  I think what I need is a good set of bookshelves.  That would definitely help me organize all these books, once I decide which to keep and which not to.  Just wish they weren't so costly.  Yeah, I could get a cheap case at Wal-Mart, but then the shelves would sag...

Our prayers of course go out to the families of those 24 elderly who were killed in the bus fire today in Texas.

August 22. 2005

Okay so finally something to write home (and in the journal) about.  This one is guaranteed to make up for my absence in the journal.  Are you sitting down?

Friday, August 19th, 2005, around 9:45pm.  I was driving back, innocently enough, from the Wal-Mart down the street, where I had just purchased a flapper valve for the downstairs toilet.  :)

I was on Crenshaw (that would be route 122 here in Bedford) and I was slowing down my vehicle to execute a right hand turn onto Franklin, a side street close to my house.

Then something hit my right front fender.  Hard.  :(

I got out of my car, walked over to the fender and saw the remains of a bicycle.  (ACK!)

Well, of course I immediately had the disturbing thought that the person riding said bike was dead  under the car.  But this turned out not to be so.

He was thrown clear of the bike and the car, and sailed through the air to land face down on the street.  Then he bounced a few times on the street until he finally came to a stop.

I walked over to him, face down in the street.  He was not moving.  Lots of blood.  I stood there in shock for a minute, thinking again that I had killed him.

Then I saw his arm move.

Realizing he was still alive, this brought me out of shock enough to immediately pull out my cellular and dial 911.  The guy asked a few questions and said he was sending an ambulance.

I went back to my own car, pulled it up along the side street where it would not be hit, then got out to run back to the guy so I could flag people down should they be getting too close to him.

As I was coming back to him, somehow (and don't ask me how he did it, I will never know!), he managed to get up onto his feet.  He was shaky and wobbly (understandably so), but he was standing by himself.  I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I was to see that!

He had his back to me.  When I came around to his front, what I saw was not pretty.  Skin was torn off of his face and arms and hands.  This moment was one of the very few times in my life I was grateful for the horrible things I had seen during my three years in the hospital.  I had been desensitized to some extent.

Then he spoke to me!  He said, "Mi Casa!  Mi Casa!"  I kind of groaned inwardly realizing what was going on here, and it was not going to help either of us.

"No speak no english?" I asked him.

"No...........MI CASA!  MI CASA!!"   Clearly he was getting agitated.

Around this time I heard sirens and looked to see the flashing lights.  I pointed to them and he and I watched them come together.

A paramedic (or EMT) jumped out of the back of the ambulance and I explained to her he spoke no english.  (Of course she had to confirm this herself, which she did.)  She worked on him with two guys from the ambulance while an officer walked up to me.

"Was this a hit and run?" he said.  "No," I replied.   "Who hit him?" he asked.  "I did.  But really he kinda hit me."  "Well, what happened? asked the officer...

So I related the  story to the officer, who insisted on asking me over and over how fast I was going.  Over and over I explained to him that I was not going fast at all because I had just slowed down to make a turn onto the street.

He asked if there was any damage to the car.  Up to that point, I hadn't even thought of that.  We went to look, and the guy had put a mighty dent in my fender.  (You can see it by clicking here.  The dent really tells the story of how fast he was going and how hard he hit me.)

As I was talking to the officer, I saw the paramedics put him on a stretcher and drove off with him in the ambulance.  This can't be good, I thought.

The cops took pictures of the accident scene.  The dent, the blood, what was left of the bike, etc.  Then they told me that while they still had to get an interpreter and talk to him, it looked like they were not going to file charges against me.  I told the officer I was happy to hear that because I felt bad enough as it was.

I did not hit this person.  He hit me.   He was on the wrong side of the street, he had no light or reflectors on his bike, and he had no helmet and he obviously was not looking where he was going.  My headlights were shining forward, and as you can see from the picture, he hit me in the side.  He just came out of nowhere.  Like a deer.  There was no way I could have seen him.

And that's all I know for now.  :(  The cops have said they'd get back to me, but I haven't heard from them yet.  I am hoping no news is good news.  At least for me...

Don't ride a bike at night.  Watch where yew are going and WEAR A HELMET!

August 08. 2005

Not much going on here recently.  Nothing y'all care to hear about, anyway.  I will be posting some reviews soon.  About time I activated that part of this site.

June 25, 2005

Today I thought I would write an update.  Haven't been able to because that virus wiped me out worse than I thought.

But I am feeling much better now.  :)

Lesson learned: Install anti-virus software.  If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.

Well first thing I should mention is that I am now 40 years old. Yeppers, as of June the 18th I am the big FOUR-OH.

I got some nice gifts, and some nice late gifts.  My friend Vicki gave me a shirt that says, "Somebody Loves Me."  But I knew she loved me already.  My friend JoAnn gave me a bear she has had for 25 years and a shirt she used to sleep in.  She said she wanted to give me a part of her and that was really kewl.  But the best gift I got from her was when she told me she was leading worship in LA and she remembered it was my birthday.  It is really kewl that JoAnn McFatter would be leading worship and remember little old Thomas's birthday.

Also another kewl gift I got was my mother sent me one of those really annoying e-cards but she wrote in it that she loves me.  I don't hear THAT from her very often, so that was nice.  And the third awesome gift I got was the biggest and bestest hug ever from Vicki.  So the three best gifts I got cost nobody nothing.

My friend Danielle gave me a 10.00 gift card for Pizza Hut, Vicki and I made some short work of that, and my friend Annie gave me a remote control hover craft that doesn't seem to be working.  She told me I can exchange it but I am wondering if I can if I do not have the receipt?

JoAnn also put a book in her box she sent, it is called, "Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats".  (Click on that title to go to the book and reviews on Amazon.)  Boy I tell yew what, if I followed that advice in the book, my kitties would be eating better than over 99 percent of the people I know!  Holy Cow, only organic meat (raw, of course) and pulp veggies and kelp and alfalfa, but one thing I am interested in trying is a raw-beef knuckle bone.  If anyone knows where I might find one for my cats, please send me some e-mail.

JoAnn also sent a cross necklace to me.  Hard to tell from the pic, but it is a nice little choker she had around the neck of the bear.  Now I have never worn one of these before, and with the exception of the medic alert, I have never worn a necklace period.  But since JoAnn gave it to me, I have to wear it.  And that's okay.  I like wearing it.  :)

My friend Rebecca came by with some cookies, I got not one but two cakes (one was chocolate and one was lemon) and Laurie gave me a dancing Scooby.  (ACK!)

Well, on to other news.  The pitbull has mysteriously disappeared.  Much as I would like to take credit for that, I really have no idea what happened (doing my best innocent look).  All I know is it is quiet here at Casa Thomas once again and that is all I care about.  Yes.

Also wanted to make mention of something I saw in the church.  We had David Walters come to the church for the kids.  He was teaching the kids and then on Sunday night (June 12th) the kids did a healing service.  And guess what I saw a LOT of people get healed.  Never seen anything like ever anywhere before. All you evangelicals who want to see your kids perform signs, miracles, and wonders, click on the David Walters link.  That may help.

We had a lot of neck healings, back healings, one girl in crutches got up and walked, we had feet healed and depression healed and lots of other things.  The most obvious was a guy who was coming to the church who had a bad stutter and now he doesn't anymore.  It's gone.  He has been completely healed and delivered of it.

And I couldn't say it was staged because I know these people.  I know their problems and they are simply not there anymore.

Praise God.

May 31, 2005

Today I had to repair a virus in my computer.  It had over 1,000 of my files!  ACK!  It was this one.

w32.finpi

Also, I maybe (finally!) some exciting (or at least interesting) news for you.

A lot of you have been writing me lately about 999-888-0001 (For those who just found this, the rest of my site is here.)

Near as I can figure (from what little research I have done), this number is set to a machine that calls houses and records the time someone answers so the telemarketers can call back at a similar time.

To avoid this happening, pick up the phone and dial the # button five or six times.  This will confuse the machine and your number will be removed from its memory.

People should not be allowed to do these evil things they are doing.

Oh yes, one more thing.  When you get junk mail with a return envelope, put someone else's junk mail in it and send it back. It will cost them 37 cents to get it.

Maybe if enough of us do this, they will stop sending it.  Be sure that whatever you send does not have your name or address on it.

May 27, 2005

Today (well, tonight) I went back to the police.

The last two times I was there, then cops just drove by and left.  This time the dog was stupid enough to bark at them.

I feel a bit ashamed to admit that I enjoyed watching the goings-on from my back door as the police pounded on their door at 4:30am.

Oh I am such a bad boy!  :)

May 16, 2005

Today what happened was Clara, the lady in the half of the duplex apparently "had words" with the neighbors regarding the doggy.  I understand some four letter words were exchanged.

I told her if the dog barks tonight, to ring my doorbell and and we will go to the cops together.  Maybe two people can make more of an impact at the police station than just one.

If anyone knows how to deal with a pitbull barking all night, please let me know.  I have heard many "creative" solutions already.  I am open to anything at this point.

May 15, 2005

Today I went to the POH-leece.  Twice.

Moving into this new house was wonderful.  It was a great place to live.  Until...

...Those guys next door bought a pitbull.  :(  Mind, it is only for breeding, and that alsone is asking for trouble.  But what is worse is the way it is keeping me awake every night by barking.  ACK!  Enough already.  I will go to the cops as often as I need to until the dog stops barking or until the cops get tired of seeing me.

One of those two has to happen soon.

May 14, 2005

Today I did a "tag sale" (that's what they call them here in Bedford) with my friend, Danielle.  I sold CRAP and in return I got $60.00 and so I went to a few other tag sales and bought three shirts (for $5.00 a piece) and a nice air purifier.  Needs a bit of cleaning, but the guy says it works.  I hope so!  Even if it doesn't, I only paid $3.00 for it, not bad for a HEPA filter and ionization.  I figure I can keep it next to the computer.

May 02, 2005

Today I made a new friend.  :)  He was at the conference and he invited me over.  He lives here in Bedford, on Peaks Street, which is literally "down the street" from where I live.  So we got together and had a jam session.  I met his son, played with him a bit, and had a good time.

Definitely have to go back there soon.

I also heard that parts of this journal are just plain boring.  (ACK!)  I will have to work on that.

Today I did the keynote at the conference mentioned below.  I did a talk called, "My Back Pages" and it went well.  Well enough to pull in a lot of $$$ from book sales.  :)  I am happy now.  Nice to be rewarded.

April 29, 2005

Today I did a talk at the second annual autism something or other conference here in Roanoke.  I talked on sensory dysfunction.  I recorded the talk and wanted to make a CD from it, but there was a problem with the microphone it kept squealing and getting feedback.  Bummer.

The talk itself went well, though I think some people were bored with how "dry" it was.  I need to think of how to make it more interesting and personable for the future.

April 16, 2005

Today I did a keynote at a conference in Danville.  Sold some books and CDs and had a great time.  I am really thinking I need to get into doing conferences again.

April 12, 2005

Today I added just some fluff to the site, I wrote a short piece for all of you on what I keep on my 20 GB MP3 player.  You can read that article here.

Those who were healed by Dave Duell are still saying they are healed.  It is hard to discount these things when you know the people personally and when you see the difference in them.

April 02, 2005

Today we had a visitor at Lion of Judah.  Dave Duell came in and said he was gonna heal people.

And I guess that's what he did.  Several people at the church have claimed they were healed.  Not everyone, but enough that it is impressive...

March 27, 2005

Today is Easter.  I have an Easter gift for all of yew.  Go to google.com and type in your phone number.

Like this: 1234567890

Your name and address will pop up along with a map to your house.

Now I am not too keen on a map to my place online.  Yeah I know I can be easily found by mapquest or whatever (I think that is what they use, actually), but if yew want some privacy, yew can click a link and be taken off the list.

Just thought I would let yew know it is out there, for yew paranoid types....

March 26, 2005

Today I returned my cell phone and got a new one because the old one wasn't working.  Real exciting, huh.

On my way home I stopped at Wal-Mart and there was a guy sitting in a stall in the mens room and he was talking on his cell phone.

How rude!  :(

March 24, 2005

Today I did a talk at Camp VA Jaycee, close by here to Bedford.  I am not real happy about how the talk went....  People said they liked it but lacked structure.  It was just a bunch of us standing around the exhibits and talking.  Hard to give information in an environment like that.

But I got to ride a horse and climb onto a fire truck, so that part was great.  And  sold a few books, which is always nice.  :)

March 14, 2005

Today I got my cellular.  Motorola v551.  This one is fancy it even does video and it has bluetooth!  I was with Suncom, now I am with Cingular.  Major bummer because I lose my free incoming text messages and my unlimited internet.

I still get my unlimited day and evening minutes though for $60.00 and that is the best deal out there.  So I guess I can't complain too much.

March 13, 2005

Today I fixed all the errors and typos in the three journals.  I hope I got them all.  If you go back and read,  they look just a bit more intelligent now.  Year 2003 is here and year 2004 is here.

March 11, 2005

Today I heard I get a new cell phone.  This is good because mine ain't working.  It is cutting off after 10-20 minutes or so.

Cingular bought out AT&T and Suncom, so I have to switch.  But I get a new phone so this could not have come at a better time.

March 07, 2005

Today I gave in and went to the urologist.  In what had to be one of if not THE most uncomfortable examination I have ever had in my 39 years, I was told my prostate is enlarged.

The doctor told me it was "generous" - whatever that means...

The doctor was actually, I think, angry at me in the beginning, because he saw my age and thought I was making things up because I am too young.

But then he started asking me about (are you ready for this) "voiding events."  I guess if you are a urologist you can't go to or use the bathroom.  Instead, you have a voiding event.  And really you don't "have" a voiding event, rather you "initiate" a voiding event.

I can just here him now.  "Excuse me, Honey, I'll be right back.  I need to initiate a voiding event."

Sigh...I am too young for this.  Saw Palmetto, here I come.  Let's be friends.

February 19, 2005

Today I uploaded a new article I just completed on TENS.  What it is, how to use it, appropriate settings, etc.

The inspiration came when I found a new unit in the mail a couple of days ago.  This was a ProMax TENS, many people think it is the best out there.  I'd have to agree.

If your doctor tells you that you need a TENS (and insurance covers it with a prescription) see if you can get a ProMax.  Can't do much better than that.

Article can be seen here.

January 12, 2005

Today I am feeling much better.  Everything is flowing in the right direction again.

I also saw that there are Afrin/Urination horror stories a-plenty out there on the web.  (Waving hello to all who found this journal searching for it.)  But most people also seem to agree that the Afrin effect will usually only happen if your prostate is enlarged a bit already.

I hate getting old, and I never, NEVER want to have this problem again!  :(

January 11, 2005

Today I went back to the doctor because of an annoying side effect of medication.

"Inability to urinate."

I thought it was the antibiotics, but it turned out to be the Afrin.  No more Afrin for Thomas.

Be careful if you take this, it is dangerous stuff.  Just lookie here for more info.

January 10, 2005

Today around 2:00am, I was in the ER because I couldn't breathe.  :(  The doctor told me I had a severe sinus infection and told me to take Afrin and he gave me a prescription for antibiotics.

I hate being sick.

Then later I received a package from JoAnn.  She sent me a few of her CDs, a nice bear, and a cool fuzzy fleece blanket that you can see here.

That made me feel better.  :)

January 01, 2005

Today I again celebrate the new year, just like the rest of you. I have not really set any "resolutions" (with the exception of the one I mentioned on Dec. 25), but I have set three goals for myself for the first few months of 2005.  Here they are in order:

3) Finish writing that long overdue next book on autism.

2) Build a web site for JoAnn McFatter.

1) Get moved in to this new apartment.

These should keep me busy for a while.  Then I can decide what to do next.
